Day 01: LIMA
Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon historical and cultural visit of the city to know the main streets, squares and avenues of the historic center of Lima, capital of the viceroyalty. The tour begins at the Miraflores district, with a stop at Parque del Amor, where one can admire the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Continuation to the Culture Center Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial and cultural center of Lima, for a sightseeing tour. Next, to Huaca Huallamarca, ancient pre-Inca temple situated close to the modernity of one of the most exclusive districts of Lima, San Isidro. Then to the Plaza de Armas, where is the Government Palace and City Hall. Entry in the cathedral, where lie the remains of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro. Walk by a few blocks to admire the Convent of San Francisco and its famous catacombs. Accommodation.
Day 02: LIMA - CUSCO
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and departure to Cusco (flight not included). Reception and transfer to the hotel. Welcome meeting with an infusion of coca tea to help with acclimatization. Rest of the morning free to rest. Afternoon visit to the city of Cusco. The tour begins with the Church and the Plaza de San Cristobal, from where one can have a panoramic view of Cusco. Next, visit to the district of San Blas, famous for its craftsmen and narrow streets. Walk from the main square down the narrow street Hatun Rumiyoc, where is located the palace of Inca Roca, currently the Archbishop's Palace. On the walls of the Inca palace we can observe a lion and a snake formed in the walls and invisible to the naked eye. See the famous stone of twelve angles, beautiful symbol of Inca architecture's perfection. Visit to the Plaza de Armas. Entry in the cathedral, which houses the finest colonial relics and paintings. Next, visit to the Korikancha, Temple of the Sun God, and finally, visit to the market of San Pedro, where one can observe the different products of the area. Accommodation.
Day 03: CUSCO - Tambomachay and Sacsayhuaman
Morning visit to the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman. The fortress of Sacsayhuaman is a beautiful place that radiates peace and tranquility. Admire the huge stones up to 4 meters high that were used in its construction. Then up to Tambomachay, where are the sacred sources of life and health, and continuation to Puca Pucara, sentinel that guards the entrance to the city. Take a trip to Q'enqo, ancient temple of Puma, where visitors can enjoy the altar of sacrifice, in the internal part of a huge rock. Return to Cusco and free afternoon. Accommodation.
Day 04: CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast, tour to the Sacred Valley, to know the center Awana Kancha, where one can see alpacas, llamas and vicuna, and learn the ancient weaving techniques. Take a trip to the market of Pisac. Time for shopping. Breakfast. Then visit to the temple and fortress of Ollantaytambo, temple that was used as a fortification during the Incas civil wars. Overnight in the Sacred Valley. Accommodation.
Day 05: SACRED VALLEY - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
Breakfast and transfer to Ollantaytambo station. Departure for the town of Aguas Calientes, located at the base of the mountain where is located the Sacred Citadel of the Incas 'Machu Picchu'. Trip up by bus to the ruins, with a spectacular view of the canyon formed by the Urubamba River. Entry in the citadel to enjoy its terraces, stairways, ceremonial centers, the sundial or 'Intihuatana', and other sacred places. Breakfast. Departure by train to return to Cusco. Accommodation.
Day 06: CUSCO - PUNO
Breakfast and transfer to the bus station. Departure by regular bus tour to Puno. On the way visit to the chapel of Andahuaylillas and a major temple to the god Wiracocha Racchi, where one can see the remains of huge columns supporting the roof of the temple and learn about its different areas. This tour offers a real Andean experience. Lunch. Arrival in Puno and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Day 07: PUNO
Morning short drive by the Sacred Lake Titicaca to visit the floating Uros Islands. The Uros were an ancient people that fled the Incas and the Spaniards and took refuge on the waters of Titicaca. Appreciate the construction of ferries made from board, reed from the lake. Afternoon departure by bus to the pre-Inca cemetery of Hatun Colla's Chiefs in Sillustani, on the shore of Lake Umayo. These funerary towers called 'Chullpas' can measure up to 6 meters tall. Return to Puno. Accommodation.
Day 08: PUNO - LIMA
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and departure to Lima (flight not included). Reception and transfer to the hotel in Lima. Accommodation.
Day 09: LIMA
Transfer to the airport at appropriate time. |
