EXTENSION TO AREQUIPA AND CAÑÓN DEL COLCA

Day 01: LIMA - AREQUIPA
Transfer to Lima airport and departure to Arequipa. Reception and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon visit to the city touring the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, cloisters, the Church of Compania de Jesus, Yanahuara colonial district, district of San Lazaro, quebrada de Chilina and the residential area of Selva Alegre. Then entry in the Monastery of Santa Catalina, regarded as one of its kind in South America. Founded in 1580 and recently opened to the public in 1970, it has narrow streets, squares and gardens with Spanish names that recall old neighborhoods of Seville or Granada.
Day 02: AREQUIPA - COLCA
Breakfast. Departure to the Valle del Colca. Trip up the slopes of the Chachani volcano, with spectacular views of the volcano Misti and Pichu Pichu. We cross by the Reserva de Vicuñas de Pampa Cañahuas, where one still can see these graceful animals over the Andean highlands. The route passes by typical 'pueblos'. Lunch. Continuation entering the Cañón del Colca. Arrival at Colca and accommodation. Time for a relaxing bath under the stars in these hot springs (entrance to the thermal waters are not included) (only for hotels in Chivay). Return and dinner at the hotel.
Day 03: COLCA - AREQUIPA
Breakfast. Early morning departure to the Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor, point where one can watch the flight of the condors, endangered huge Andean birds, symbol of the Andes. Observe the depth of the canyon considered the deepest in the world. Visit to the 'pueblos' Maca y Yanque, beautiful villages that keep their colonial churches. Return to Chivay. Lunch. Return to Arequipa and accommodation.
Day 04: AREQUIPA
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. |
