Day 01 (Friday): PUERTO BAQUERIZO MORENO (SAN CRISTÓBAL ISLAND)
Arriving by plane to San Cristóbal Island and transfer to the M/N SANTA CRUZ.
CERRO BRUJO (SAN CRISTÓBAL ISLAND)
Travel by boat along the Cerro Brujo's volcanic coast. On this habitat one can observe seabirds like blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, herons, frigate birds and shorebirds. One can also observe sea lions.
Day 02 (Saturday): PUNTA SUAREZ (ESPAÑOLA ISLAND)
Landing at Punta Suarez to visit its famous colonies of seabirds including (from April to December) the Galapagos Albatrosses.
PUNTA CORMORANT (FLOREANA ISLAND)
Disembark at Punta Cormorant on an olivine crystals beach to observe flamingos, ducks, royal teros, herons and other birds. Soon we arrived at a white coral beach where sea turtles nest at night (December-May).
Day 03 (Sunday): PUNTA ESPINOZA (FERNANDINA ISLAND)
Arrival at the archipelago's youngest island, Fernandina. Since there are no introduced mammals in the island, Fernandina has the highest density of marine iguanas who share the habitat with sea lions, sayapas crabs and the Galapagos hawk.
PUNTA VICENTE ROCA (Isabela Island)
Opportunity to snorkeling near the slopes of semi submerged Ecuador volcano on the northern tip of Isabela Island. We explore the slopes by boat and the naturalist guide will explain the dramatic geology of the area, with remains of limestone formations and lava.
Day 04 (Monday): ISLAND BALTRA
Morning at Baltra Island. The boat makes a stop at Baltra mainly for logistical reasons. New guests are arriving by plane this day besides fresh provisions that are shipped. Good opportunity to write postcards, enjoy the Jacuzzi or simply relax enjoying the equatorial sun. Landing, you can enjoy the coral beach called Aeolian, an excellent place for swimming and snorkeling (from December to March one can see plenty of sea turtles).
CERRO DRAGON (SANTA CRUZ ISLAND)
This area is a nest place for land iguanas, which are being constantly monitored by the Chales Darwin Research Station. The arid zone vegetation provides an excellent opportunity for bird watching, as Darwin's Pinzones, Galapagos cucuves, the Papamoscas and the canary Maria.
Day 05 (Tuesday): ISLAND BARTOLOMÉ
Hiking to the summit of the island. The view from up there is worth the effort. Boat tour around Roca Spire, time for beach and snorkeling.
PUERTO EGAS (SANTIAGO ISLAND)
This is the ideal place to observe land birds and a little further inland. The path leads to a colony of furry sea lions. This coast is very good for observing marine iguanas as they feed on algae at low tide.
Day 06 (Wednesday): ISLAND RÁBIDA (JERVIS)
A gratifying stroll along the beach of this small island provides the observation of a large colony of sea lions, marine iguanas, cucuves, canaries and several species of Darwin's Pinzones. Navigating to the Santa Cruz Island we keep sharp eyes on the horizon searching for dolphins.
NORTH SEYMOUR ISLAND
Afternoon exploring the coast and the inland of North Seymour Island, one of the few islands that emerged from the sea in the Galapagos. The sandy shore is full of Galapagos sea lions and marine iguanas.
Day 07 (Thursday): UPPER SANTA CRUZ ISLAND
A tour bus to observe the most famous reptile of the Galapagos Islands, the giant tortoises in their natural habitat. Search for the Darwin's Pinzones (most of the group of trees), particularly the famous Pinzón Carpenter.
CHARLES DARWIN SCIENTIFIC STATION (SANTA CRUZ ISLAND)
Afternoon visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station and program for breeding the famous giant tortoises in captivity. Then a stroll along the main street of Puerto Ayora.
Day 08 (Friday): PUERTO BAQUERIZO MORENO (SAN CRISTÓBAL ISLAND)
Landing in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Travel by bus to visit the breeding center for turtles La Galapaguera in Cerro Colorado. Transfer to the airport for return flight to mainland. |
