Day 01: SAN JOSE
Transfer to the hotel and accommodation.
Day 02: SAN JOSE - IRAZU VOLCANO - TURRIALBA VALLEY
Early morning transfer from San Jose to Turrialba Valley, with an en route visit to the Irazu Volcano National Park. The Irazu Volcano is an active volcano located in the central mountain range, near the city of Cartago. This volcano is the highest in Costa Rica (3432m), its last eruption was in 1965 and since then it stayed asleep, though frequent earthquakes show that it remains active down below. Continuation with a visit to the Cathedral de Los Angeles, the Catholic Church's patroness in Costa Rica, followed by lunch at Orosi Valley. Afternoon visit to the Center for Higher Education and Tropical Agricultural Research (CATIE), a leading center for tropical studies. Accommodation.
Day 03: TURRIALBA VALLEY - TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK
Continuation by morning to Caño Blanco Docks, where boats wait to make the transfer to Tortuguero. This tour follows through channels housed deep in the jungle, and from the boat one can admire the unique flora and fauna of this area. Lunch. For the afternoon we recommend a visit to the village of Tortuguero and Caribbean Conservation Board, to learn about the efforts to protect the turtles that come to nest in this area every year. Accommodation.
Day 04: TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK
Day to explore this paradise's secondary channels and to get more in contact with nature. From July to September one can take part in the optional tour for heeding the turtles at night to admire one of the most impressive miracles of life: large sea turtles arriving each night to lay their eggs on the beach. Accommodation.
Day 05: TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK - SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN
After breakfast, transfer to the Caño Blanco Docks and continuation to Puerto Viejo de Limon and south of Caribbean. Very little development came up on this side of the country, thus preserving the area as an ideal haven where sustainable relationships between man and nature are the norm. Accommodation.
Day 06: SOUTHERN CARIBBEAN
Free day for optional activities in the area. The extraordinary natural and cultural wealth of the southern Caribbean provides a great variety of activities: sport fishing, boat tours, diving, snorkeling, surfing, hiking, bird watching, dolphin watching, horseback riding, river and sea kayaking, and visits to the Cahuíta National Park and Gandoca Manzanillo Reserve. Accommodation.
Day 07: SOUTH OF CARIBBEAN - SAN JOSE
Free morning to enjoy the beach. Afternoon departure to San Jose and last night in Costa Rica. Accommodation.
Day 08: SAN JOSE
